Herbert V. Nicholson papers, 1944-1982.

Papers relate to Nicholson's work to assist Japanese-Americans during the United States' program to evacuate and relocate them to camps during World War II. Papers include Nicholson's letters, his notes on evacuation of Japanese-Americans during World War II, corespondence between Nicholson and a number of Japanese in the 1980s relating to those events and to a petition to the UN Secretary General inspired by the Japanese to end nuclear proliferation, and photos relating to the camps for Japanese-Americans in the United States. Correspondents include: Tom Takeda, Paul Bannai, Takashi Mizuno, Togo Tanaka, and Herbert Nicholson.
